I am neither fond of the tech three unlock mechanic as it is described nor the unit limitations. However Thrones of Britannia has yet to grab me, and for the very first time I am likely to let a Total War game pass me by. I look forward to fighting in an idealized ancient China. China's ancient past has long intrigued me, and even if it is far more likely to focus on the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" aspect of it than perhaps historical accuracy, I think I can live with that. I am very likely to try out Three Kingdoms. Just my opinion but with previous entries in the series my reaction tended to be 'shut up and take my money', even before any meaningful information on the game in question was known. The problem with that of course is that I'll have to wait until a while into whichever games lifespan to see if it will be up to scratch, so for the first time in a long time less interest and no preorders from me. I want most of all to see CA's best work going forward on optimisation and bugfixing that is, for my better PC at least to get performance commensurate to it's tier/specs (as it manages to in any other game, even those just as recent as warhammer 2) and not for a tier or two less.īut who knows? I might even just settle for a game that actually runs. and no excuses such as 'we make games that will run at their best on PC's of tomorrow' or such flaccid bs will count, nor will retroactively amending game requirements that were overambitious/underrated in the first place. Those upcoming games are only going to be any good to me if they run at least as well as Attila (if not Warhamer 1 standard) on my better PC at least, and without the degree of issues I've known of late (notwithstanding my opinion the ToB should've been an Attila DLC anyway). based on the fact that my extremely buggy and unoptimised experience with Warhammer 2 (and lack of support for what has become a widespread enough set of issues to demand attention) and these clear results of the ever thinner spread of CA's assets/resources has made me wary of future TW releases. On top of other positive points, that's the biggest 'yay' for me anyway.īut also, No. or making Armenia/Pontic Kingdom etc undisputed masters of the trans-Caucasus 'crossroads' over all the greater powers in the region aso? based on the fact that I'm a history nut who particularly loves the alternative history scenarios that can be created in the historical TW games (I have them all)įor example, what's not to like about pushing Denmark into the position of European hegemony by 1300.
